Rama Bhakthi Samrajyam (Rama Tattva in Vaggeyams)

Sri Rama has a special importance to Telugu people. Three great Telugu composer- devotees have provided us a great bulk of devotion al literature, musical compositions besides a great classic like Maha bhagavatham. Their works have inspired the Telugu people in many ways occupied the world of music. Sri Tyagaraja, occupied the world of classical literature - Sri Potana and provided us with a world of de votional lyrics - Sri Ramadasa. These three great men are outstanding in their own way and are the noblest part of Telugu history. Valmiki Ramayana of course has always inspired the learned for its literary religious importance-Ramayana is the source book for many literary and musical compositions. More than anything the Ramayana is part of the History of India.

Sriman Komanduri Seshadri enjoys great reputation as a musicolo gist and musician. This work is on Sri Rama as a character and is his thesis for doctorate of the P.S.Telugu University. Obviously the related subjects are multifarious. Without deviating from the specialised musi cian's perspective, he has elaborately treated all the different subjects in an educative manner. He has gone into the religious and philosophi cal subjects also. He has also dealt with Navavidha bhakti in the kritis of Tyagarja by providing many texts of the kirtanas. Any number of comments of appreciation and quotations from this work is not enough. Researchers, students and Vidwans of music will be greatly benefitted by a careful study of this valuable work. Sriman Komanduri Seshadri has provided one more valuable and analytical work to the subject on Sri Rama. He deserves a grateful acknowledgement.
