Book Description
Suresh Joshi (1921-1986) was one of the pioneers of Modern Indian Literature. Since his younger age he was a true fan of Rabindranath Thakur whose influence can be felt in his literary works, particularly, in his creative essays. From his colleges days he was a student of philosophy, afterwards he came into contact with existential philosophy and creative works. He was tremendously impressed by these writers and thinkers. He gave a new turn to creative Literature and Literary Criticism in Gujarat; he introduced and translated many modern writers. He continually edited literary periodicals; Kshitij, one of these periodicals, proved a true cultivator of modern sensibility. Throughout his literary career, he remained a true lover of art and literature and went on fighting against every kind of establishment.
Shirish Panchal (1943) worked under Suresh Joshi for his Ph.D.degree. He is writing short stories, novels, critical articles. He teaches Gujarati language and literature in M.S.University of Baroda sinse 1967.
